A Visit from an Old Friend

I must admit that when Lucy left my cave I was really nervous. The White Witch has spies everywhere, and I was quite certain she would find out I helped a Daughter of Eve escape rather than take her to the Witch.

Time passed without any problems from the White Witch.  After a while, I realized her spies did not report me, and I would be safe.  I was so very happy, but I was also sad.  Lucy was such a nice girl and I enjoyed her company.  It was sad that I could not go visit her in the Spare Oom.

Then, one day she just walked up to my cave!  What a wonderful time we had together!  We had tea, we told stories, and we sang and danced. After a lovely afternoon of renewing our friendship, it was time for her to go back through the Ward Robe to her land.

Now that she's gone, I am now nervous once again. To ignore the White Witch's orders once was risky, but now that I've done it twice. I'm sure I will be found out.  Now, I fear for my life once again.

What Have I Done?

The myth always hangs over our heads. What is a Daughter of Eve anyhow? What about a Son of Adam?  I never really thought humans existed. No one I know has ever seen one.

So, it wasn't too hard for me to promise the White Witch that I would bring a human to her.  They don't exist... Or do they?

The weather never changes. It's always cold. Always snowing.  Nothing ever changes around here.  The spell never goes away.

Let's face it.  Some days you just need to shop. It's good therapy.  So, I went to the stores and got myself some tasty sardines, a couple knick-knacks for the cave, and of course a great book to read on these chilly nights.

On my way home, I took the shortcut past the lamp-post, and there she was... a Daughter of Eve.  I could barely believe my eyes.  Myth meets reality?  Nah! It couldn't be.

I invited it home with me and fed it all sorts of yummy foods -- a whole week's worth of groceries I might add -- and told it lots of stories.  Finally, I got out my flute and played a few songs.  My goal?  Get it to fall asleep so I could tell the White Witch.

Of course, I couldn't go through with it.  Lucy, the Daughter of Eve, was too nice and too polite.  There was no reason for me to kidnap her and send her to utter peril just to boost my own status in the wood.  No, I must do the right thing.

But, now I have to wonder... What will the White Witch do when she finds out that a Daughter of Eve has come to Narnia?  What will she do to me when she finds out that I helped Lucy back to the Spare Oom without telling the White Witch? I am a doomed faun!
